Advanced Materials at Silicone Expo Europe

Advanced Materials at Silicone Expo Europe

Advanced Materials’ participation in the first ever Silicone Expo Europe event, which took place in Amsterdam in March, has been hailed a resounding success. Managing Director Gareth was joined at the event by Quality Assessor Nancy Orton and Technical Director Villeater Gladman, who reported meeting a wide range of visitors, including potential customers and suppliers, as well as existing customers and even some friendly competitors.

Gareth took time away from the Advanced Materials stand to attend a couple of technical talks, which he found most informative. He was also pleased to have the opportunity to consider potential investments in new machinery, which he believes will help drive the company’s growth over the next five years.

Tolerances and capabilities in silicone rubber extrusions

During the Expo itself, the team met a wealth of new contacts and potential customers, as well as welcoming visitors to the stand from established customers that have been with Advanced Materials for many years and many technical discussions took place. It was wonderful to put faces to the names of contacts of some long-standing customers of Advanced Materials and to solidify already strong relationships with suppliers.

The team met with representatives from more than 25 countries during the Expo and whilst both the full days were busy, they were very different, with conversations expanding greatly in content, depth and duration as time went on. Among the many discussions that took place were those on some of the team’s most favourite topics, including achievable tolerances, capabilities in inflatable seals meeting legislation and standards, and interest in our anti-friction treatment.

The team also managed to fit in some live quotations for new customers, so they didn’t have to wait for pricing.

The silicone manufacturing industry

Other opportunities for further discussion with existing and potential customers came at the various evening networking events, where conversations centred around core capabilities,
and, much to the team’s delight, sustainability in manufacturing. The general consensus on this latter topic being that it is the only way to drive real change within the silicone rubber industry.

The team was also able to participate in other engaging discussions about the silicone rubber industry with other manufacturers in the field. “We loved getting to talk about silicone rubber so much and all feel very fortunate to find ourselves working within this industry,” said Villeater. “We also look forward to seeing how changes in legislation, standards and evolving technologies will transform the world of silicone rubber in the coming years”.
