Certifications, Quality and Compliance
When sourcing silicone rubber components, quality, consistency and compliance are essential. Our silicone rubber certifications and accreditations demonstrate the independently assessed management systems and manufacturing controls behind our products.
At Advanced Materials, we combine certified processes, material traceability and technical expertise to help customers specify silicone components with confidence.
Advanced Materials’ Accreditations and Certifications
As an experienced UK manufacturer of silicone rubber extrusions and components, we understand the importance of meeting customers’ technical, quality and regulatory requirements. Our credentials cover several distinct areas: independently certified management systems, UK manufacturing origin, manufacturing practices and information security. These are supported by material-specific compliance documentation and quality controls throughout production.
It is important to distinguish between company certifications and material approvals. Our ISO certifications assess how we manage our operations, while material standards relate to the properties, composition or performance of specific silicone grades. Together, these provide customers with greater confidence when selecting a supplier for demanding industrial and regulated applications.
Quality Management Certifications
ISO 9001:2015 - Quality Management
![]()
Advanced Materials is certified to ISO 9001:2015 by BSI, a UKAS-accredited certification body. Our certificate number is FS 825278, covering the manufacture of silicone rubber products and demonstrating that we operate an independently assessed quality management system.
For customers, this means working with a manufacturer whose processes support:
- Consistent, repeatable manufacturing quality
- Controlled production and inspection procedures
- Material and production traceability
- Documented quality management processes
- Continual improvement and corrective action
These controls are particularly important for manufacturers requiring reliable repeat orders, consistent component dimensions and documented supplier assurance.
ISO 14001:2015 - Environmental Management
![]()
Advanced Materials is also certified to ISO 14001:2015 by BSI. Our certificate number is EMS 825276, covering the manufacture of silicone rubber products and confirming that we operate an independently assessed environmental management system.
ISO 14001 provides a structured framework for identifying, managing and improving environmental performance. For procurement teams, this provides additional assurance when assessing suppliers against environmental policies, responsible sourcing requirements and sustainability objectives.
Made in Britain - UK Manufacturing
![]()
Advanced Materials is a member of Made in Britain, reflecting our commitment to manufacturing silicone rubber products in the UK. Our manufacturing operations are based in Littlehampton, West Sussex, where we undertake extrusion, tooling, joining and other production processes.
UK manufacturing offers practical advantages, including direct communication with our production team, technical support and greater visibility throughout the manufacturing process. Made in Britain membership is a manufacturing-origin credential, rather than an ISO certification or product performance approval.
Good Manufacturing Practice
![]()
We manufacture in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 concerning Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. GMP establishes requirements for quality assurance and quality control throughout relevant manufacturing operations. These practices help support controlled production and appropriate documentation for silicone components intended for food-contact applications.
Compliance with GMP does not automatically establish that every silicone grade is suitable for food contact. The selected material must also meet the relevant requirements for its intended application.
Cyber Essentials - Information Security
![]()
Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed cybersecurity certification scheme designed to help organisations protect against common cyber threats. Our Cyber Essentials credential supports customer and supplier assurance requirements, particularly where information security forms part of procurement assessments. This is relevant to customers operating in sectors such as defence, aerospace and other industries where secure handling of business information is important. Cyber Essentials addresses information security controls and is separate from our manufacturing quality and material compliance credentials.
Silicone Rubber Standards, Approvals and Compliance
Different applications require different silicone rubber properties and supporting documentation. We manufacture using a range of silicone grades selected to meet specific performance and regulatory requirements. Compliance depends on the material specified, proper processing (such as post curing), its intended use and the supporting evidence available.
Food-Contact Silicone Rubber
For food processing, packaging and associated equipment, we can manufacture using selected silicone materials with supporting compliance documentation for:
- FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 – relevant US requirements for rubber articles intended for repeated food contact
- Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 – European framework requirements for materials intended to contact food
- BfR Recommendation XV – German recommendations covering silicone materials for food-contact applications
Material suitability must be assessed against the intended food-contact conditions, including temperature, contact duration and the substances involved.
Medical and Pharmaceutical Silicone
Selected silicone grades are available with supporting USP Class VI documentation for medical and pharmaceutical applications. USP Class VI relates to specified biological reactivity testing of materials. It does not, by itself, establish that a component is suitable or approved for every medical application.
While Advanced Materials does not have clean room manufacturing, the silicone rubber parts we manufacture are suitable for cleaning and sterilising. Our technical team can help identify appropriate grades and supporting documentation during material selection.
WRAS-Approved Silicone Materials
![]()
For drinking-water applications, we can manufacture silicone rubber components using WRAS-approved base silicone material where specified. The WRAS approval applies to the approved raw material under its stated conditions, rather than automatically extending to every component manufactured from it. We can help customers identify the appropriate material and understand the documentation relevant to their application.
Fire-Retardant Silicone Rubber
We have extensive experience manufacturing flame-retardant silicone rubber extrusions for applications where fire performance is critical. Selected silicone grades are available with supporting documentation relating to requirements such as:
- EN 45545-2 – fire protection requirements for materials and components used in railway vehicles
- BS 6853 – fire precautions in the design and construction of passenger-carrying trains
- FAR 25.853(a) – applicable flammability requirements for aircraft interiors
- UL 94 V-0 – a recognised plastics flammability classification
These classifications are not interchangeable. Material suitability must be checked against the specific standard, test conditions and intended application.
REACH and RoHS Compliance
![]()
![]()
We can provide supporting REACH and RoHS declarations for applicable silicone materials. These documents help purchasing and technical teams assess chemical restrictions, substances of very high concern (SVHCs) and relevant regulatory obligations. For further guidance, read our guide to quality standards and regulations for silicone rubber extrusion manufacturing.
What Our Certifications Mean for Customers
![]()
Certifications are important, but their value depends on how quality is maintained during everyday manufacturing. Our silicone rubber extrusion manufacturing processes incorporate practical controls designed to support consistency, traceability and reliable repeat production. These include:
- Dimensional accuracy: ISO 3302 Class E1 cross-sectional tolerances as standard for solid silicone extrusions, unless otherwise confirmed in writing.
- Production inspection: Checks against agreed specifications throughout manufacturing.
- Laser measurement: Laser dimensional measurement where appropriate to the profile and production process.
- Batch traceability: Recorded material batch numbers and cure dates.
- Retained samples: Production samples retained for a minimum of five years.
- Dedicated quality support: Experienced quality personnel available to assist with customer requirements.
These measures help engineers maintain dimensional consistency and provide procurement teams with evidence supporting supplier approval. Our standard manufacturing tolerances are explained in more detail on our silicone rubber tolerances page.
Certification and Compliance Documentation
Having the correct documentation available can be just as important as selecting the right silicone material. We support customers with quality and compliance records relevant to their specifications and purchasing requirements. A Certificate of Conformity is supplied free of charge with the goods.
Additional documentation can include dimensional inspection reports, first article inspection reports and application-specific quality assurance documentation, such as Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs). Depending on the selected material, supporting declarations may also cover animal-origin substances, BSE/TSE, allergens, latex, plant origin, GMOs and other application-specific requirements. Where relevant, we can also assist with documentation concerning halogen content, UV resistance and additional international food-contact requirements.
Please discuss any specific testing, inspection or documentation requirements at the enquiry stage. This allows us to confirm what is available and incorporate the necessary checks into the manufacturing process. Further information about silicone grades and their performance characteristics is available in our silicone rubber technical details section.
